Ruth Sher Abramson  

Ruth Sher Abramson, 85, Duluth, died Friday, April 18, 2008. A lifelong Duluth resident, she was born July 13, 1922 to Libbie (Holzberg) and Samuel Jacob 'Jack' Sher. Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Duluth Central High School. She was a lifelong member of Adas Israel Synagogue, and she was actively involved in the Twin Ports Jewish Community. Ruth worked in accounting and office management for all her adult life, retiring from L. J. Walsh Company at the age of 79. She had a strong allegiance to her family and to her friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Abbott and Ralph Sher, and by her husband Albert on May 22, 1977. She is survived by her daughter Ghitiann (Bill) Worcester, of Minneapolis, and her grandsons: Josh (Kristi) Worcester, and their daughter Charli; Aaron (Jenny) Worcester and their children Kyla and Alex; her son Jack Brian Abramson of Des Moines, Iowa; her brothers Peyton (Carole) Sher and Sylvester (Celia) Sher; her brothers-in-law Palmer (Evelyn) Abramson and William (Ruth) Abramson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth's family would like to extend a special thank you to Maggie and Karen who cared for Ruth, allowing her to stay in her own home. FUNERAL SERVICES:11 a.m. Tuesday at Dougherty Funeral Home. Burial will be at Adas Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, 4503 Airpark Blvd., Duluth, MN. 55811, or to St. Luke's Hospice.
